GODDESS OF LOVE, MOTHER EARTH
You have all heard of Buddha. Most people know Mary, the virgin Mother. But how many of you know the mysterious Tara Goddess of love? More of you know her than you realize.
Tara has been worshiped for thousands of years. She appears in many cultures, with many similar names and many similar legends. She is known by the Ancient societies as far North to at least Finland where an ancient Saga recalls about TAR, Woman of Wisdom. Look to the jungles of South America and see that their Goddess Tara. In the New world, The Cheyenne know of a Star Woman who fell from the Heavens. Her story is amazing!
In Tibet, Tara is know as The Faithful One and The Fierce Protectress. Tibetan refuges have often told of her intervention her assisting them in their lives. Yet another Tara like story is Ish Tar.
She is known in India, Ireland and North America, and by many more! In Latin the word TERRA means Mother Earth. The Druids called their Mother Goddess Tara.
In this lovely brass/bronze statue, the Earth Mother is seen wearing little beads and a Tiger skin. This is a common Indian rendition. I will devote this page an eventually an entire site to Tara, Laxmi and also The Madonna.
